What it is
OpenTyrian is an open-source reimplementation of Tyrian, the 1995 vertical scrolling shooter by Epic MegaGames. It keeps the full campaign and the ship-upgrade progression, and it ships with free assets rather than the original commercial ones. The result is a complete shooter rather than a demo level.
What you need
- A desktop browser
- A keyboard or gamepad
- Nothing else, since the assets are free and included
How to open it
- Open the OpenTyrian build on Decomp Games.
- Wait for the loader.
- Pick a difficulty and start the campaign, then spend upgrade points between levels.
