Clean-room browser build of the N64 original, hosted by Decomp Games. Boots and starts a race; assets are regenerated, not retail.
What it is
Wave Race 64 is Nintendo's 1996 N64 jet-ski racer, and its selling point was water that behaved like water: the surface rises and falls, and you have to read the swell to hold a racing line. This build runs the retail program through EmulatorJS with textures, images and audio regenerated by the clean-room pipeline, so it ships no original ROM, textures or audio. The regenerated art deliberately differs from the retail release, and the announcer is a placeholder synthetic voice.
What you need
- A desktop browser with WebGL
- A keyboard or a standard gamepad, detected automatically
- Acceptance that regenerated assets differ from the retail release
How to open it
- Open the Wave Race 64 build on Decomp Games.
- Tap or press a key once, since sound only starts after your first input.
- Pick a championship from the menu; touch controls are still being rolled out, so use a keyboard or pad.
